Application:

Electronic Valve Positioner units are used for controlling the mechanical position of final control elements with respect to incoming commands received from the controllers such as PID/DCS/QCS etc. and also to give feed back signals.

The incoming control command in the form of 4-20mA/0-20mA or 0-10 V DC/ 0-5VDC is converted into 230 V AC 50 Hz or 110 V AC 50 Hz 1 Phase outputs by the positioner to run the actuator motor in forward & reverse directions. The positioner while generating the output signal also takes into account the present position of the final control element, dead band, feedback signal, time delay etc.

The Positioners are supplied in two different forms Field mounted and Panel mounted; for Single & Three phase requirements.

3) It is possible to give Retransmission output signal in same or different form, than Input control signal.

When the operational requirement is more precise & also the distance between the actuator & control system is more than 10 Meters , it is recommended to use Model PP 503 SP/TP instead of PP 501 SP/TP to avoid Electrical Noise Disturbances.

Control Features :-

  • Auto / Manual selection facility.
  • Open / Off / Close operating switch when selector switch is in Manual mode. A Potentiometer can be provided for Open / Close operation , as an option, instead of switch.
  • Time Delay (TD) adjustment in the range of 0.2 to 20 Second to adjust the time gap between command signal & it's acknowledgement , to avoid hunting. Clockwise rotation will increase the Time Delay.
  • Dead Band (DB) setting in the range of 1 to 10%. Clockwise rotation will increase the Dead Band.

Fault Indications :-

  • Fault LED ( I / P) : Fault LED Input glows when the control signal is absent or less than desired value e.g. 4 mA.
  • Fault LED ( F / B) : Fault LED Feedback glows when the feed back signal from the actuator is absent or incorrect.

Control / Calibration Adjustments :-

  • IND - Zero / Span adjustments for digital indicator , so to match percentage opening of the valve & other Parameters. Location on front side (Top)
  • Control - Zero / Span adjustment for control signal , so as to match them with mechanical position of the valve / feedback signal from the actuator. Location on front side . ( Bottom)
  • F.B. - Zero /Span adjustments for feedback signal , so as to match them with mechanical position of the valve / Control Signal from controller. Location on rear side ( Right Top)
  • R.X. - Zero / span adjustments for Retransmission output , so as to match them with other parameters. Location on rear side ( Left Bottom)
